Adults-Only Oasis: A Luxurious Stay at Copenhagen’s Manon les Suites

Forget traditional Scandinavian hygge; Manon les Suites, a Guldsmeden hotel in Copenhagen, offers a Balinese-inspired escape. During a recent work trip, I experienced the buzz firsthand, and my one night stay proved to be an unforgettable travel highlight.

While the adults-only (15+) policy is a draw, the true magic lies in the details. Every one of the 87 rooms is a suite, offering a level of comfort and space often lacking in European city hotels. My classic poolside suite, booked at a discounted media rate, was surprisingly affordable at $250 (regularly $500) and included breakfast, pool and spa access, and a welcome bottle of bubbly.

Arriving mid-morning, I was greeted by a friendly front desk team who efficiently stored my luggage and granted early access to my suite by 12:30 p.m. Located on the second floor, adjacent to the famed Junglefish pool, the suite’s location was ideal.

The suite itself was stunning. A small kitchen with a Smeg coffeemaker and half-bath greeted me upon entry, with a cleverly placed door separating the entryway from the living area.

The living area was spacious and chic, featuring two couches, a dining table, and large windows providing ample natural light. The bedroom, tucked away in a private corner, boasted a built-in canopy bed, a second television, and a full bathroom.

Sustainable touches throughout the suite impressed, from the master power switch activated by the room key to the bamboo toiletries in the bathroom. Pool gear, including robes, towels, and slippers, was thoughtfully provided.

The staff’s attentiveness elevated the experience. My luggage was already in the room upon arrival, and the welcome bubbly arrived moments later. Turn-down service, complete with chocolates on the pillows, added a touch of luxury.

The Junglefish pool is an oasis. Surrounded by lush greenery and topped with a glass ceiling, it truly felt like another world.

Relaxing in a cabana with a glass of wine (served in plastic glasses for poolside safety), I soaked in the tranquil atmosphere. The pool remained a calm haven even into the evening.

Dinner at the rooftop restaurant, Chapung, was enjoyable. While the outdoor seating lacked street views, the food was delicious, especially the Penang curry. The bustling breakfast buffet offered a wide selection and stunning city views from the rooftop balcony.

Additional amenities included a gym, sauna, cold plunge, basement bar, and massage rooms, leaving me wishing for a longer stay.

The suite was surprisingly quiet, ensuring a restful night’s sleep in the plush canopy bed.

While the child-free ambiance was pleasant, the true highlights were the exceptional service, the luxurious suite, and the unique Junglefish pool. Manon les Suites is a must-stay for visitors to Copenhagen, offering a tropical escape in the heart of a European city.
