MSU to test campus alert notification system

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — If you hear alarms near Michigan State University’s campus on Tuesday, officials say it is likely a drill.

MSU’s Department of Police and Public Safety (MSUDPPS) will be conducting a full-scale test of its campus alert notification system beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, in line with standard semesterly testing procedures.

Outdoor sirens will be sounded, and the Spartan community will see text and email alerts, computer notifications, MSU Green Light emergency phone activation, and SafeMSU app notifications as part of the test. Phone calls, while utilized during actual emergencies, will not be made during Tuesday’s test…
