Board votes ‘no’ to proposed psychiatric hospital in residential community

MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – On Monday, Murrells Inlet residents voiced strong opposition to a proposed psychiatric hospital near their homes.

It was a full house at the Horry County Board of Zoning Appeals meeting on Monday night as several concerned residents made their voices heard in regards to a proposed psychiatric hospital in a Murrells Inlet residential community.

The HOA president of the Oak Arbor community, Deborah Benenati, said she is thrilled that the board voted ‘no’ to changing a county ordinance that requires psychiatric hospitals to be at least 2,000 feet from residential areas…
