Teen shopping with grandfather charged with shoplifting at Walmart

A Leesburg teen will have to answer in court for allegedly stealing toys and food while shopping with his grandfather at Walmart.

An officer responded to Walmart, 2501 Citrus Blvd., regarding retail theft around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department. Loss prevention staff already had 19-year-old Anthony Martinez detained in the office for stealing items.

Upon arrival, the officer met with a loss prevention employee who advised that he saw Marinez pick up multiple items in the toy department and walk through various aisles. Martinez then removed the toys from their packaging and put them in his hoodie pocket. He proceeded into the deli, selected four egg rolls and ate them as he walked, the report said…
