RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Richmond’s Police Memorial Statue is a step closer to being made public again. The City’s Urban Design committee is set to review plans this week that would move the piece of art in front of the Richmond Police Academy on West Graham Road.
The bronze statue of an officer carrying a child has been in storage for more than five years now. It was moved after its vandalism in 2016, shortly after it was moved to Byrd Park, and then again in 2020.
It has since been restored, as city documents show donors spent $30,000, but since then, the statue has sat in a warehouse on Ingram Avenue…
