CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Nueces County officials said they expect to recover over a million dollars after falling victim to a recent phishing scam.
In a press release on Monday, officials said the county has fallen victim to a cybersecurity incident five times. In which three resulted in a loss of funds. The county lost over $56,000 in the first incident, but the amount has been recovered.
The other instance consisted of a larger amount totaling nearly 2 million dollars. The county said that with the help of Frost Bank, a lump sum of the first transaction of $1 million will be recovered, while the other half continues to be investigated…
