(Des Moines, IA) — The area around Riverview Park will be redeveloped under an urban renewal plan approved by the Des Moines City Council. Revitalization efforts include new rowhouses that will overlook the nearby amphitheater.
Three buildings housing 12 units each will be connected to local bike trails that run along the Des Moines River. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall.
Sadie Trytten of Neighborhood Development Corporation says plans also include new commercial space and retail. “Looking for that operator for a restaurant so we can start that construction. We think bringing in that density (housing) first is important and all those tenants will also support the investment that we’ve put in at Highland Park just about a mile north,” said Trytten…
