LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln has now joined San Mateo, California as one of only two 4-star welcoming communities.
“More than 25,000 people who are immigrants and refugees live in our community,” Lancaster County Commissioner Christa Yoakum said at the announcement of the achievement on Sunday. “They add to the vitality of our economy and cultural richness of our neighborhood. We took the welcoming standards and made them our own.”
The rating is given out by “Welcome America”, a national nonprofit that promotes inclusivity in communities across the country. Lincoln received their second highest rating after meeting over 80 requirements based on the resources it provides to the city’s diverse community…
