Madison police arrest 26-year-old after crash; seize loaded gun, suspected crack cocaine

MADISON, Wis. — A 26-year-old man was arrested on Sept. 4 after he crashed his car into a tree and ran from the scene, Madison police said.

Officers responded to the 5400 block of Congress Ave. shortly after 5:30 p.m. for a report that a man was trying to approach someone in a parked vehicle, police said. When officers arrived, the suspect allegedly sped away, struck a tree and ran away.

As he ran, officers said they saw him toss a handgun. Police recovered a loaded handgun, a fully loaded magazine and what they described as a significant amount of suspected crack cocaine from the vehicle…
