If you have ever gone on a road trip through Louisiana, you’ve probably spotted a Billy’s Boudin. Or maybe you’ve made a specific drive to Natchitoches just for some of those famous yam cakes and scrumptious meatpies from The French Market Express. These gas stations are our constant reminder that delicious food is always just around the corner, especially in Louisiana.
Have You Heard of the Ribs from a Gas Station Off Youree?
Multiple people had mentioned the AMPM on Washington Street in Shreveport, and everyone said to try the BBQ. Unfortunately for me, I went too late and didn’t get there in time for the famous smoked chicken, which apparently sells out quickly. But let me tell you, those ribs are fantastic, they’re better than some ribs I’ve had at local steakhouses.
The fried fish sandwich is also a crowd favorite, so I grabbed that too. I forgot the sauce to add to it, but it didn’t even need any! How does a sandwich taste that great when it’s dry?
