Glacier Bay National Park is now home to two new totem poles. Park officials say the two totem poles were brought to life, raised, and named during a day-long dedication ceremony. One is called the “Our Grandparents’ Land Totem Pole” and the other — “Our Grandparents’ Ocean Totem Pole.” You can find them at the road entrance to the park and at the dock in Barlett Cove.
A ribbon cutting was recently held in Unalaska to celebrate the Dutch Harbor Channels Project. Officials say this marks a critical milestone for ship traffic both in and out of Dutch Harbor. And the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says work was completed 54 days ahead of schedule.
