Eastern Pennsylvania Men Charged In Last Month’s Warren County Shooting

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ.- On Sunday, August 31, 2025, two Eastern Pennsylvania men were quickly apprehended and charged in connection with a shooting incident that occurred earlier in the afternoon in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

According to Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone, on Sunday, August 31, 2025, shortly around 1:40 p.m., members of the Phillipsburg Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at 3000 Rand Boulevard in the Town of Phillipsburg. While responding to the scene, Police Officers were provided with a description of the suspect vehicle that was observed fleeing the scene just moments after the gunfire.

Suspects Quickly Apprehended Following The Shooting

Soon thereafter, the suspect vehicle was spotted and stopped by members of the Lopatcong Township Police Department. The occupants of the vehicle, Joshua Makuta, 23, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Jorel Rivera, 20, of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, were taken into custody and transported to the Phillipsburg Police Department, where they were formally charged…
