Charleston defers holiday decorations plan to next year

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A plan to spread extra holiday cheer by putting up more decorations across the City of Charleston will have to wait until next year.

The city’s Ways and Means committee voted Tuesday to defer consideration of whether to raise the holiday budget to allow for more decorations and activities in communities beyond the peninsula.

Mayor William Cogswell cited a backorder on lights and other decorations, as well as limited time to organize with each individual community, as reasons to defer the proposal to 2026…
