Gwinnett parents, teachers demand action on school safety after multiple weapon incidents

SUWANEE, Ga. — Following a string of recent weapon-related incidents on school campuses, Gwinnett County parents packed the first School Safety Advisory Committee meeting of the year Monday night, demanding stronger security measures and more training for teachers to better protect students.

At least three separate weapon incidents in the past three weeks have renewed fears among Gwinnett County families, prompting calls for swift action. Parents and district leaders gathered at the Gwinnett County Public Schools district building on Old Peachtree Road in Suwanee, where safety concerns dominated the agenda.
