I ask because there is a popular golf resort in Lexington that has doubled as a highly sought-after wedding spot for years. It’s the Mansion at Griffin Gate.
It was built in 1854 and underwent a massive $200,000 renovation in 2016. The renovation included a restoration of beautiful white oak floors that were uncovered when crews pulled up the old carpet. What renovators did NOT do was excavate the terrifying legacy of the Mansion at Griffin Gate.
At one time, a teenager named Gretta lived in the building. It is said that Gretta hung herself after she was rejected by a boy and or was stood up for her date. The Mansion-Griffin Gate is a historical building that at one time served as a private residence. At one time there was a teenager who lived there by the name of Gretta, and it is her spirit who apparently haunts the building today. Employees have mentioned spiritual reports especially in the Blue Room (Gretta’s Room) and where she took her life. Lights and/or candles in this room will often flicker. Many say that they will feel a cool breeze as they sit down to eat, even though there are no air vents that would cause this to happen. Apparently, Gretta still considers this her room. If she gets mad, its been reported that she causes things to move and swing, such as the chandelier.
