Man charged with multiple offenses after police chase: MPD

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is in jail after being accused of leading police on a chase after failing to obey a traffic stop in Frayser, according to the Memphis Police Department.

23-year-old Lazarus Clements is charged with having no driver’s license, drag racing, violation of vehicle registration law, financial responsibility, lights on motor vehicles, disregarding a traffic signal, unlawful carry of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, evading arrest and fleeing in a motor vehicle.

On Sunday at 10:32 p.m., MPD says they were responding to another call when Clements pulled out in front of the police cruiser without any headlights on.

The officer attempted to perform a traffic stop, but said that’s when Clements ran a light and started to drive into oncoming traffic, going 65 mph and greater…
