Trustee, nonprofit help residents pay off over $7M in debt

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby County Trustee Regina Morrison Newman, in partnership with the nonprofit Rise Memphis, announced that over 2,300 residents have paid off more than $7 million in non-mortgage debt as of the end of August 2025.

The Greater Memphis Financial Empowerment Center provided clients with at least two hours of free financial counseling and the clients can receive counseling for as long as needed.
