SOUTH SHORE — South Shore neighbors have been frustrated by a spree of busted car windows in recent days — yet police say no items have been stolen from any of the damaged cars.
Neighbors made at least seven reports to the Police Department over the weekend regarding shattered car windows in that same area, with at least 11 vehicles reported damaged, said police spokesperson Kellie Bartoli.
Those reports included:
- One incident 2-8 a.m. Saturday in the 2100 block of East 68th Street, where a woman reported her car’s driver side window was broken.
- One incident 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday in the 6700 block of Merrill Avenue, in which a woman reported her car’s driver side window was shattered.
- Two incidents about 6 p.m. Saturday in the 6800 block of Jeffery Boulevard, where two women reported their cars’ front passenger windows were shattered.
- One incident about 7 p.m. Saturday in the 6700 block of Clyde Avenue, in which the front driver’s side windows of five parked vehicles were shattered.
- One incident 3 p.m. Saturday-10:20 a.m. Sunday in the 6700 block of Crandon Avenue, where a woman reported her car’s passenger side window was shattered.
- One incident midnight-9 a.m. Sunday in the 6800 block of Crandon Avenue, in which a man reported his car’s front driver side window was broken.
No one had been arrested, nor had any information on suspects been shared as of late Monday. No items were reported stolen from the cars, and the woman in the 68th Street report explicitly told police “nothing was taken,” Bertolli said…
