Once a sleepy northeastern Collin County town, Princeton has seen its population skyrocket, making it the fastest-growing city in America according to recent U.S. Census data. In just one year, Princeton’s population jumped 30% to an estimated 37,000, more than double its size in 2020.
From its humble beginnings of 2,321 residents in 1990 to nearly 28,000 last year, Princeton shows no signs of slowing down. Projections estimate the city could reach at least 110,000 people by 2039.
Enter The Tiny Homes
Amid all this growth, a pint-sized housing revolution is quietly popping up in North Texas: teeny tiny homes. Miami-based builder Lennar is squeezing homes under 700 square feet into a new community called Tillage Farms. Apparently, good things really do come in small packages.
The homes are designed with modern, efficient living in mind. Each two-story house features an open-plan first floor that combines the kitchen and living room, along with an owner’s suite that can double as a bedroom or home office. Upstairs, a lofted bedroom and second bathroom complete the layout. Prices start in the mid-$100,000s, while the largest homes in the development — four bedrooms, three bathrooms and 2,015 square feet — approach $300,000.
Community Living, Downsized
