A man was stabbed seven times yesterday morning in the Loop as crews set up for the first “Sundays on State” event of the year, a showcase the Chicago Loop Alliance touts as an internationally acclaimed, award-winning street festival.
The attack unfolded around 9:18 a.m. outside the Target store, 10 South State Street, as two men got into an argument steps away from where workers were preparing for the event’s 2025 debut.
A Chicago police spokesperson said one of the men pulled out a “sharp object” and repeatedly cut the victim. An officer at the scene said the victim suffered seven stab wounds along the left side of his body, stretching from his shoulder to his ribs. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
