Omaha Housing Authority files motion to expedite lawsuit against the state

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Omaha Housing Authority filed a motion this week in hopes of expediting its case against the State of Nebraska over a new law.

OHA filed a lawsuit in June over a law that went into effect in July. Originally passed in April 2024, LB840 aims to hold the OHA more accountable about how it handles complaints.

But the complaint stalled after the judge assigned to the case turned out to have retired two weeks before that filing. As outlined in the motion filed Monday, the case was filed June 27 and was assigned to Judge Leigh Ann Retelsdorf, whose retirement went into effect on June 13…
