SAN ANTONIO – After four officer-involved shootings within the past 17 days, some local organizers are calling for change.
Act 4 SA, a self-described grassroots criminal justice organization, has called for systematic reforms in the wake of a recent wave of shootings, where officers opened fire on suspects.
“Time and again, we see that police officers are not equipped to de-escalate moments of crisis,” said Act 4 SA in a statement. “The presence of a badge, or the deployment of tasers and guns, does not calm or resolve these situations, but instead escalates them, leaving individuals and families traumatized and our entire community less safe.”…
