SPONSORED: The Arlington Avenue Bridges Replacement Project is nearing the end of its first phase. Crews have completed the support structures on the north bridge but there is still some work to do on the north channel of the Truckee River. When that is finished, crews will swing the aquadam from that channel to the south channel to begin construction on that bridge. The shift is expected in the middle of September.
“As you know, we had a slight delay after that big July rainstorm flooded part of the work zone,” Josh MacEachern, RTC Public Information Officer said. “We recovered from that pretty quickly, so we’ll shift work to the south channel very soon.”
The aquadam keeps the construction area dry and diverts the river to one channel near Wingfield Park. The aquadam allows a quick way to shift the work from one channel to the other. The south bridge does not have a center pier but the north bridge does, so the south bridge’s support structures are expected to take less time to build…
