Troy man accused of leaving bulldog in basement covered in waste and deteriorating

TROY — A Troy man is facing criminal charges for allegedly abandoning a French bulldog.

The 25-year-old man is set to be arraigned Wednesday in City Court before Judge Christopher Maier — more than a month after the pup, a 5-year-old female named Gucci, was discovered sickly and covered in bodily waste in the man’s Fifth Avenue basement apartment.

Troy police arrested the suspect on Sept. 1 following an investigation. He currently faces two counts of torturing, injuring or not feeding an animal, misdemeanors, one count of animal abandonment, a misdemeanor, and one count of having a dog unlicensed or untagged, a violation…
