Conway planners recommend 130-home housing development, grocery store

The Conway Planning Commission on Thursday, Sept. 4 recommended that the city council approve a pair of annexation requests.

One would pave the way for another housing development to feed a growing demand for Conway street addresses, while the other could result in another grocery store going up along Highway 501 on the western edge of the city.

A thumbs-up for the housing development in the Cultra Road and Oak Street area came in a 7-0 vote, despite objections from nearby homeowners who predicted that developing the 109-acre tract would increase traffic, exacerbate flooding, displace wildlife and lessen their quality of life…
