The next wave of temporary gallery closures at VMFA starts next week.
Why it matters: That means Richmond is one step closer to VMFA’s new McGlothlin Wing II part of the largest expansion in the museum’s history.
State of play: Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 16, Marble Hall and the Mellon Galleries of European Art and Sporting Art will close (and remain closed) until the new wing’s construction is complete.
- Construction is expected to start early next year and wrap up for an opening in 2028.
