“Drink your blood from the chalice that I will make out of your heart:” Former Cornell worker pleads guilty to sending threats

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — On April 25, the same day he would be arrested by the FBI, Jerry Gordon announced to the “young professionals” of LinkedIn that he was returning to Cayuga County to “create as many thunderstorms and lightning as possible.”

But he was seemingly not referring to the Cayuga Nation’s mythos of the First Thunderers, as was the post he was replying to. Rather, his promise was among the least disturbing messages he sent to people in the days preceding his arrest, messages including plans to set up a sniper’s nest with a .233 caliber rifle to kill someone, warnings that he’ll initiate a killing spree at the Cornell campus, and a threat to drink a victim’s blood straight from his heart.

Gordon pled guilty on September 5 to sending death threats via four texts to a man from the village of Aurora, who court records identify as “J.W.,” from April 22 to April 25…
