Amarillo man sentenced for year-long crime streak

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – An Amarillo man will be on probation for ten years, but not before he serves four years in prison.

Cory Duaine Mooneyham, 55, appeared in 47th District Court on Monday for his sentencing.

Mooneyham faced a litany of charges, including:

  • Assault Causes Bodily Injury – Family Violence (class B misdemeanor) on 7/25/2023
  • Violation of Protective Bond 2+ Times Within 12 Months (Third-degree felony) on 8/4/2023, $30,000 bond
  • Violation of Protective Bond 2+ Times Within 12 Months (Third-degree felony) on 7/26/2023, $15,000 bond
  • Injury to Child/Elderly/Disabled w/ Reckless Bodily Injury (State jail felony) on 7/02/2023, $25,000 bond
  • Violation of Protective Bond 2+ Times Within 12 Months (Third-degree felony) on 9/05/2023, $100,000 bond
  • Arson w/ Intentional Damage to Habitation or Place of Worship (First-degree felony) on 11/17/2023, $200,000 bond
  • Burglary of Habitation (second degree felony) on 11/17/2023, $200,000 bond
  • Burglary of a building (State jail felony) on 11/23/2023, $25,000 bond
  • Theft of Property >=$100<$750 (Class B misdemeanor)

Represented by T.D. Hammons, Mooneyham accepted an agreed upon plea bargain.

As part of his plea, Mooneyham will serve four years in prison and upon his release, will immediately be placed on deferred adjudication for ten years…
