Westminster police catch 2 speedsters, 1 going 124 mph

DENVER (KDVR) — Police caught two drivers going well over the speed limit in Westminster, according to a post on X from the Westminster Police Department.

The drivers were clocked on U.S. Highway 36, which has multiple speed limits depending on the area. In Colorado, speed limits include a maximum of 65 miles per hour, 55 miles per hour and can reach lower speeds of 35 miles per hour in construction zones and city limits.

The surprisingly slower of the two drivers was caught going 114 miles per hour, nearly 50 miles per hour over the highest potential speed limit.

That speed was smurfed by the top speed of the second driver, who was traveling at a staggering 124 miles per hour, which is nearly double the highest potential speed limit on U.S. 36 in Colorado.
