Four Arrested in Shooting of Florida State Linebacker Ethan Pritchard
Tallahassee, FL – Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the August 31st shooting of Florida State University linebacker Ethan Pritchard. FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass announced the arrests on Wednesday. Pritchard remains in critical but stable condition at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after being shot in the back of the head.
The shooting occurred in Havana, Florida, where Pritchard was reportedly dropping off family members at an apartment. Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young indicated that investigators believe the incident was a case of mistaken identity.
Those arrested include Jayden Bodison, Caron Miller, and Germany Atkins, along with a minor whose name has not been released. Bodison, Miller, and the minor face charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Atkins has been charged with a probation violation.
The incident occurred just one day after Florida State’s season-opening victory against Alabama, a game in which Pritchard did not participate. The freshman linebacker was a highly touted recruit.
Last Saturday, the team honored Pritchard during their game against East Texas A&M with tributes including bringing his jersey to midfield for the coin toss. Pritchard’s father, Earl, was present for the game.
Following the game, Florida State coach Mike Norvell spoke emotionally about Pritchard and the team’s dedication to playing for him in front of his father. Norvell described Pritchard as a passionate player and expressed his hope for Pritchard’s recovery.
