Fayette County school superintendent cancels WKYT interview amid budget scrutiny

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Fayette County Public Schools Superintendent Demetrus Liggins canceled a scheduled appearance on WKYT’s Kentucky Newsmakers just minutes before it was set to begin, as questions mount over the district’s financial challenges.

Liggins was set to sit down with WKYT’s Bill Bryant for an interview at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10. But about 20 minutes beforehand, a district spokesperson informed the station that the superintendent would no longer be available.
