AUSTIN (KXAN) — First responders quickly responded to the scene of a suspected deadly overdose at a Sixth Street bar in downtown Austin during the Labor Day weekend, according to the Austin-Travis County EMS chief of staff.
“The system worked like we would like it to. Law enforcement was there very quickly and they began to give Narcan rescue kit. (The) fire department showed up along with (ATC)EMS, and so we had that three-tier approach and mitigating on what was five overdoses,” ATCEMS Chief of Staff Wes Hopkins said at Monday’s Austin Public Safety Commission meeting.
One person died and four others were taken to the hospital after officials said they are suspected of overdosing at Buckshot Bar in the early morning hours of Sept. 2. APD Watch Command previously said it believed all five people were bar employees…
