Mother of DC homicide victim pleads for answers as police reiterate case is active

WASHINGTON (7News) — As the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) continues its search for a third suspect in the murder of congressional intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, another grieving family is still waiting for answers in a separate homicide case.

Ryan Realbuto, 23, was shot and killed during a robbery attempt in January 2023 in the Shaw neighborhood, along South Dakota Avenue in Northeast. At the time, Ryan Realbuto was volunteering in the District, working with at-risk kids, and had just returned from an event at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
