SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 10, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Specialists from the 151st Wing of the Utah Air National Guard Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) squad were called in Tuesday at about noon after a construction crew alerted the Salt Lake City Police Department it had found what appeared to be a potentially explosive ordnance.
Officials responded to the scene, near 7200 West, just south of Interstate 80. The ordinance did not appear to contain anything explosive, Master Sgt. Nicholas Perez told Gephardt Daily.
“It wasn’t live,” Perez said. “What happened was an artillery shell was dug up by an excavator, and they stopped everything and called Salt Lake City police, who called us, by which I mean our EOD. They cleared the scene and made sure everybody was safe.”…
