KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The City of Kalamazoo’s Public Services Department will begin the fall hydrant flushing program this Sunday, September 14, at 10:00 p.m.
City officials say flushing will continue through Wednesday, September 24. Most flushing will take place overnight between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Some daytime flushing may occur between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. if needed.
Hydrant flushing is a regular maintenance activity performed twice each year to keep Kalamazoo’s water system working properly. As water passes through underground water mains, minerals naturally found in groundwater can accumulate over time…
