CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies say a man who has been on the run for five years is now in custody.
“After five years on the run, justice caught up. Timothy Lee Walding Jr. of St. Albans has been arrested in Chicago and brought back to West Virginia to face his charges in Kanawha County,” a Thursday Facebook post from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department said.
Walding, 46, is charged with first-degree robbery and fleeing.
The robbery was originally reported at a Hot Spot on West Washington Street near Dunbar in July 2020. Deputies arrived on the scene and saw a man, believed to be Walding, near a car in the parking lot. He got in the car and the driver took off. A chase followed that went through Cross Lanes, Nitro and back to Dunbar where spike strips flattened the cars tires. Walding then ran from the vehicle, authorities said…
