Family of 3-year-old who died after finding unsecured handgun will not face charges, police say

A three-year-old Baton Rouge boy died after accidentally shooting himself with an unsecured and loaded handgun left on a TV stand last week.

The situation doesn’t amount to negligent homicide charges for the family, Baton Rouge Police Chief Thomas Morse said Thursday.

“The case is not closed, but from all of our interviews and things we’ve done, we don’t think it has reached a level of gross negligence,” Morse said…
