Man sentenced for fatally shooting 2 men after breaking into their homes

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (TCN) — A man recently pleaded guilty to kicking in the doors at the homes of two separate victims and killing them.

Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney John Bramlett announced Sept. 9 that Matthew Kidd pleaded guilty to murder and capital murder in connection with the deaths of William “Billy” Morris and Christian Storey. A judge sentenced him to life for each charge.

According to prosecutors, on Aug. 27, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about a deceased male and learned someone had kicked in Morris’ door and shot him multiple times. Two days later, Brandon Police responded to a similar call at Storey’s home and learned someone also kicked in his door, shot him multiple times, and stole some of his belongings…
