Rio Rancho to take up controversial development plan again

RIO RANCHO, N.M. — The Rio Rancho City Council is expected to have a public hearing Thursday night on a controversial proposal to develop a former golf course.

The Chamisa Hills Master Plan would convert Club Rio Rancho golf course and country club into homes and shopping areas. The plan includes 110 lots, in addition to three neighborhoods on the old golf course, and some trail space and retail shops.

City councilors postponed a vote on this after many residents spoke out against the plan. Residents will get a chance to speak again during the hearing Thursday at 6 p.m…
