Injured Guest Takes the Flamingo Las Vegas to Court

Flamingo Las Vegas has again found itself under fire due to a visitor injury. According to reports, the unfortunate man’s foot got stuck in an escalator and was badly hurt. The victim is now suing the casino hotel and the escalator company.

Malfunctioning Machine Mangled the Man’s Foot

According to a report by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the original incident happened in October 2023 when Scotty Southwell, the man in question, was visiting the Flamingo Las Vegas from California. During his time as a guest at the hotel, his foot got trapped within the stairwell of the escalator, resulting in serious injuries.

The complaint elaborates that the victim’s limb got stuck in the escalator’s moving parts and was mangled. The injuries required “immediate and subsequent” treatment, according to the complaint.

The Review-Journal added that the lawsuit was initiated on September 2 in Clark County District Court. The Flamingo Las Vegas and Schindler Elevator Corp., which was responsible for maintaining the faulty machine, have been named as defendants and accused of negligence and bad training practices.

The Victim Is Seeking Damages

While the complaint is somewhat vague as to which component malfunctioned and caused the damage, it made it clear that the injury was both serious and preventable. According to the lawsuit, Southwell’s injuries are a “direct result” of the casino company and its partner’s negligence and failure to install “proper warning signs to indicate a dangerous and/or hazardous condition existed on the subject premise.”…
