Operation Patriot 2.0 made its presence felt across sanctuary Boston this week, with ICE agents conducting a series of arrests targeting individuals they’ve classified as dangerous criminal illegal aliens. According to the Department of Homeland Security, these operations are a direct response to local policies that allegedly provide a safe environment for criminals by going against federal immigration law.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin outlined the initiative’s goal in a press statement, indicating that the sweep was an expansion of the original Operation Patriot and focused singularly on Massachusetts due to its sanctuary status. “Sanctuary policies like those pushed by Mayor Wu not only attract and harbor criminals but protect them at the peril of law-abiding American citizens,” McLaughlin declared in an announcement obtained by DHS. “ICE is arresting rapists, child abusers, drug traffickers, and other violent thugs.”
Among those arrested in Boston, Victor Gomez-Perez stands out, a 33-year-old from Guatemala with a litany of grave charges including aggravated rape and assault, and a conviction for assault. Others detained include Kely Yohana Espinosa-Viana and Brahian Valdez-Placencia, facing charges for aggravated assault and armed robbery respectively. Their fastidious efforts also led to the apprehension of Joshua Gonzalez Baez, a young man with charges for trafficking narcotic substances, along with Samuel Armando Barrera-Hernandez and Noe Feliciano Garcia-Majia, both facing serious assault-related charges.
