Local doctor’s study on cannabis has ‘shocking’ warning

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Ever since recreational marijuana was legalized in states like Ohio and Pennsylvania, healthcare workers have noticed more people becoming intoxicated by the THC in edible forms of the drug.

Dr. Eric Ligotski is a second-year resident at Akron Children’s Hospital. Recently, he co-authored a six-year study on the impact of edible cannabis products, and what he learned shocked him.

“The amount of calls to Ohio’s Poison Control Center for cannabis intoxication — we all expected those to be on the rise,” Logotski said. “The age group that rose the most — zero to five years old — was not something that I personally expected.”
