COLUMBIA, S.C. — A long-vacant high rise in downtown Columbia is being redeveloped after sitting empty for four years.
The Marion Street High Rise, once home to seniors 62 and older, was closed in 2021 when city housing leaders said the cost of repairing the 50-year-old building was too high. The Columbia Housing Authority estimated repairs would cost $16 million, compared to $20 million to replace the building.
