Ready to look up? A traveling drone art show is bringing 500 glowing quadcopters to Wayne State University’s soccer field for two nights, with flights lifting off at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 and 13.
“We’re merging drones and classical music,” said Sofia Altuna, team lead for the DroneArt Show. “The drones are perfectly synchronized to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons… it’s a very mesmerizing experience.”
Expect an hour-long program with 45 minutes of drone time, animated into animals, plants and seasonal scenes – all choreographed to the score. To keep the sky bright that long, the team cycles through multiple drone fleets. “There’ll be about 500 drones in the sky,” Altuna said during an appearance on “Live In The D.” “To stretch it to a 45-minute drone segment, we alternate fleets.”…
