It’s not every day the SWAT team gets called to an emergency, but the Millcreek Township Police Department is training to make sure they’re prepared any time crisis strikes.
On Thursday, the township’s SWAT team and crisis negotiation team came together at Waldameer Park to practice different types of emergencies, and one lieutenant said they try to make it as realistic as possible.
“We have a couple different scenarios that we’re going to do today. One is going to be a slow, methodical search of the park, and that’s going to culminate into a scenario with a hostage situation, which is where the crisis negotiation team will get involved,” said Lieutenant Adam Hardner with the Millcreek Township Police Department.
