Op-Ed: A Safer Jersey City by Protecting Our Families, Empowering Our Police

The recent tragedy of a young boy losing his life while riding his bicycle in Jersey City is a painful reminder that traffic safety is not an abstract issue. Public safety is about protecting our children, our families, and every member of our community. As Mayor, my obligation will be clear: we will act decisively, with the strongest tools and the most innovative policies, to protect lives.

Public safety starts with giving our Jersey City Police Department the authority, resources, and technology they need to enforce the law. It also requires engineering our streets for safety and adopting best practices from other municipalities that have successfully reduced injuries and fatalities.
