Open carry firearm ban no longer enforced in Escambia County

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office has announced it will no longer be enforcing Florida’s open carry firearm ban.

According to a Facebook post from the ECSO, Florida Statute 790.053, which instituted an open carry ban, has been ruled unconstitutional by the First District Court of Appeals.

Sheriff Chip Simmons has informed his deputies not to enforce the ban anymore.
