Residents of neglected Maryland apartments to receive $11.2M after state sues owners

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown announced Thursday that residents of the Heather Hills Apartments in Prince George’s County will be receiving $11.2 million in rent refunds and debt forgiveness.

In November 2024, the Office of the Attorney General filed a lawsuit against the owners of the 459-unit apartment complex. Brown said the company collected rent for more than two years illegally because it lacked a proper license.
