Worcester, MASS– Businesses in Worcester’s Midtown Mall are still closed, almost a week after an electrical fire. The building has been without power since Saturday’s fire on the roof. The owner of Odd by Worcester Brewing, Broth and Mall Rats Arcade said the sprinkler system completely destroyed his storefronts. Jay Grey said he suffered a total loss to his beer and food inventory and there is heavy damage to brewing and kitchen equipment. Grey employs about 20 staff members between his three stores and said he’s doing his best to stay positive.
“We are trying to keep our faith. We are very lucky we have another business in Maine. Very lucky the city of Worcester supports us as much as they do,” Grey said. “Myself, along with the other business owners and the staff are definitely very defeated. This building hasn’t been much for a very long time and we’ve been really working hard, myself and the other business owners, to try and bring back downtown Worcester and make this place something special. You get to a point where something like this happens, it’s just pretty defeating to try and keep the faith .”…
