Houston pastor doubles down after publicly firing praise leader in viral video

The First Lady and co-pastor of a Houston church has gone viral for a publicly firing a member of the church’s praise team during a Sunday, September 7 church service. The viral moment was captured on Macedonia Worship Center’s livestream (which was available on its Facebook page and featured over 2,500 comments), and the drama surrounding the tense confrontation and its aftermath continue to play out online.

Early in their Sunday service, Cassandra Pope, co-pastor of  Macedonia Worship Center alongside her husband Walter Pope, took the stage to address the congregation. She proceeded to remark that there were some things that needed a “correction.” The correction in question was the lack of enthusiasm from a hug from praise team member Mahoganee Medlock-Brown, which Pope did not appreciate.

@kayjaykc 😮So… Pastors Cassandrea Pope publicly rebuked Mahoganee over a hug on FB Live… then Pastor Walter followed up to back “my wife” up? Do you think this was spirit-led correction or a power move? #Mahoganee#church#FBRebuke#PublicHumiliationOrCorrection♬ original sound – KINGDOM COMM…
